Richard Liu Qiangdong: The Man Who Created JD.com February 11, 2019

JD.com is one of China’s most successful e-commerce businesses. According to Forbes, the online retailer is worth is $57.6 billion and is the only rival to mega-retailer Alibaba. JD.com’s founder, Richard Liu Qiangdong, launched the company in the face of forced failure.

These days, companies shutting down because of health hazards or environmental danger are nothing new. In the early 2000s, business owners faced more economic problems, so issues like public outbreaks or 100-year storms was a priority. Many Chinese store owners learned the hard way just how bad nature could affect their businesses.

Before Richard Liu Qiangdong was estimated to be worth $11 billion, he was the son of two nearly impoverish shipping company owners. His family never had much money, and Richard Liu Qiangdong wasn’t too focused on making much money at first. He wanted to go into politics and make a difference from inside the system.

In 1996, he earned a degree in sociology from one of China’s most prestigious institutions, Renmin University, with the intention of pursuing a career in politics. Sadly, his grandmother fell ill, and choose to find a more lucrative career to help for his grandmother’s treatment.

He quickly learned computer programming and began writing code for anyone willing to hire him. As a freelance coder, he discovered how challenging, yet rewarding a business career could be. He replaced his political ambitions with entrepreneurial hopes and started working toward a business degree from the China Europe International Business School. Find Related Information Here.

In 1998, after earning an EMBA, he opened a little store in Beijing called Jingdong. Jingdong sold magneto-optical products and gave Richard Liu Qiangdong his first taste of entrepreneurial success. Within five years, he had 12 stores throughout Beijing and was making more money than he ever expected. Before he could expand again, the 2003 SARS outbreak shut everything down.

SARS made face-to-face not only undesirable but dangerous for employees and customers. On the brink of defeat, Richard Liu Qiangdong decided to move Jingdong online, and JD.com was born one year later. In 2017, Richard Liu Qiangdong became an official “Variety 500 Honoree” due to his hard work and service to the world.

JD.com is the best online trading platform in China and the Asia continent at large. It was founded by a Chinese’s entrepreneur known as Richard Liu Qiangdong together with his wife. The initial name of the mall was 360buy, and it was established in 1998. Early this year, JD.com introduced the first drone lift in Indonesia, and the Indonesian government approved it. Launching of the drone will be a breakthrough for the delivery of parcels in South East Asia. During the launching, the country’s ministry of Transportation, Air Navigation and Civil Aviation were present. The test flight happened on 8th of January 2019, West Java Indonesia. JD.com Participates In The Launch Of The Smart Logistics Institute In Xiongan October 31, 2018

Ever since it commenced operations in 2004, JD.com has been growing rapidly due to its strategic moves and innovative use of technology. In recent past, the organization has been stealing all the limelight due to its involvement in projects that spark universal interest. Recently, JD took part in the formation of the urban smart logistics center based in Xiongan China. The research center became a reality after the firm partnered up with various bodies, such as Nankai University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Sinotrans & CC and Shanghai maritime university and several other facilities.

Jingdong announced the launch of the facility during the Global Smart Supply Chain Summit which is usually held every year. This year’s summit was held in Beijing in October. Through the research center, JD.com will once again help to protect Mother Nature, and at the same time promote sustainable consumption, by ensuring that businesses can continue with their production activities without impacting the environment negatively.

The primary objective of setting up the facility is to help reduce the number of freight vehicles in Chinese cities, hence reducing the rate of urban traffic emissions. The only way that it will achieve this is by coming up with a framework of underground logistics that will make use of subterranean tracks, and municipal pipe corridors to move products. Such a framework will help in reducing the rate of emissions, and preserving the “above ground space, which would probably be occupied by the myriads of freight vehicles used to move goods.

Additionally, the underground logistics system is even more beneficial, as it will cause little to no disruption of daily life. Apart from JD.com’s Chief executive officer, Zhenui Wang, other officials who were present, and agreed with the concept of the urban smart logistics institute. For instance, Chen Xiangsheng of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that, using underground space to establish a smart logistics system, will help in transforming the town into a Smart City. Thereby, it will eradicate traffic and environmental problems, and at the same time leave more urban space for more productive activities. Go To This Page for additional information.

How JD.com Promotes a Sustainable Business Environment

It’s not the first time that JD.com is involved in a project that will promote an environmentally friendly business environment. Last year, the company launched the green stream initiative, a program aimed at reducing environmental degradation through the use of degradable packaging materials.

The Company also introduced the concept of hydrogen energy delivery trucks in Shanghai, in an aim to reduce the carbon footprint on the eco-system. JD is indeed a game changer, and it’s no surprise that in less than two decades, the organization has developed in leaps and bounds.
