Sveinsson And Holyoake Step Down From Iceland Seafood (ISI)International Board March 14, 2019

Mark Holyoake and Benedikt Sveinsson will be stepping down from ISI’s board. Some of those nominated to replace them are Benedikt Sveinsson, the company’s former CEO, the CEO of Jakob Valgeir, Jakob Valgeir Flosason, and Liv Bergthorsdottir.

Sveinsson has been working at the company for more than 40 years. He held different senior positions in the U.K., the U.S., and Iceland. He was named group CEO in 2006 and played that leadership role until 2010 when he became the chairman. He said that ISI played a big role in his life for over 4 decades. He was filled with emotion as he stepped down, but he also knew that the time was right for him to do so. He is proud of being part of the group that saw ISI grow and expand over the years.

There will be a shareholders’ meeting on February 2 in Reykjavik where they will nominate the chairman of the board. Shortly before the above persons stepped down, ISI had announced Bjarni Armannsson as their new CEO. He previously held the position of chairman and saw through the deal that united Icelandic Iberica and ISI. He has replaced Helgi Anton Eiriksson who had been CEO for many years.
